December is part of the Everglades’ dry season, when mosquito activity is often lower than during the warmer, wetter months. However, mosquitoes can still be present, especially near mangroves and during early morning and evening hours.
We recommend bringing insect repellent and wearing protective clothing when exploring the park. Conditions can vary depending on recent rainfall and water levels.
Everglades National Park is home to a variety of wildlife, including alligators, crocodiles, manatees, and dolphins, as well as an abundance of bird types. We recommend that you visit the National Park Service Website for more information on the animals.
